This is a three-phase hybrid inverter with a rated power of 10 kW that works in conjunction with a high-voltage (HV) battery. It serves as the central unit of the system, simultaneously managing solar power generation, the battery, and the grid connection. So it’s not just a grid-tied inverter, nor is it a separate charge controller—it regulates the flow of energy between the PV system, the battery, and the grid all in one unit.
What is it used for?

It is typically used in larger residential and smaller commercial (C&I) installations, where maximizing self-consumption and minimizing grid feed-in are important. Since up to 10 units can be operated in parallel in both on-grid and off-grid modes, it scales well to form a smaller utility-scale system or a microgrid. Thanks to its AC connection, it can be retrofitted to an existing solar system, so there’s no need to replace the old inverter when expanding. A diesel generator can also be connected, which is useful at off-grid or weak-grid locations.
How does it work?

The inverter continuously monitors generation and consumption and, based on this, decides whether to route solar energy to the loads, the battery, or the grid. Thanks to the 6 adjustable time windows, you can set when to charge and when to discharge the battery—this results in significant savings under tiered or dynamic pricing plans. In the event of a power outage, it supplies power to consumers from the stored energy; during off-grid peak periods, it can even deliver 1.5 times the rated power for a short time (10 seconds), which is important for equipment with high starting currents (pumps, compressors). Thanks to the charging strategy that aligns with the BMS, there is no need to manually adjust the charging parameters.
Technical and System-Level Benefits

Thanks to the 2 MPPT trackers and the 20 kW maximum PV connection capacity, the DC side can be significantly oversized, which improves yield on winter days and overcast days. The 100% asymmetric load capacity is a real advantage: you can route the full power to a single phase, which is important given the uneven phase distribution in Hungarian households. On the HV battery side, the 160–700 V range and the 37 A charge/discharge current provide higher system efficiency than low-voltage solutions. Thanks to WiFi/RS485/CAN communication, IP65 protection, and passive (fanless) cooling, it can be installed outdoors and operates quietly (≤45 dB).
Differences

This model is a mid-to-high-end member of the Deye SUN-5/6/8/10/12K-SG01HP3 series. The entire platform is identical: the same HV battery management, 2 MPPT channels, asymmetric output, and parallel connectivity—the main differences lie in power output and the maximum allowed PV connection capacity. The 5–6 kW models are designed for typical single-family homes; the 10K is suitable for properties with higher power consumption or smaller C&I loads; and the 12K is the top-of-the-line model in the series, designed for larger PV arrays. If you’re unsure which model to choose, your consumption profile and planned PV size will determine the best option: the 10K is a good choice if your installed PV capacity is around 12–16 kW.
Important to know

This is a high-voltage inverter, so it operates exclusively with an HV battery—it cannot be paired with an LV (low-voltage) storage system. The maximum continuous grid-to-load transfer is 35 A per phase; this should be taken into account during design planning when dealing with high simultaneous loads. It is the right choice if you are aiming for a three-phase connection, storage operation, and scalability all at once.

The 10K power rating hits the sweet spot where consumption is already significant, but upgrading to 12K isn’t yet justified.
