Een toegangslezer wordt gebruikt om gebruikers te identificeren die toegang willen tot een systeem dat wordt beveiligd door een toegangscontroller. Het verzendt de aanmeldingsinformatie en de controller beslist hoe te handelen.

Deze lezer maakt identificatie mogelijk via kaarten of sleutelhangers met MF 13.56 MHz en MF DESFire 13.56 MHz technologie, evenals een toetsenbord voor numerieke codes.

De verbinding met de controllers verloopt via Wiegand. Dit protocol maakt een beveiligde verbinding mogelijk in de buiteninstallatie met zijn IP64 classificatie.
